Collaboration Beyond the Consortium
Addressing the health impacts of environmental pollution requires more than research alone. It requires dialogue, exchange, and collaboration across sectors.
As part of the ExpoHealthNet cluster, the UPRISE project contributes to a growing European effort to better understand how environmental stressors influence non-communicable diseases. UPRISE focuses specifically on how ultrafine particles (UFPs) and micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) may affect health from the very beginning of life – including during pregnancy.
But generating scientific evidence is only one part of the solution.
Why Stakeholder Engagement Matters
Environmental health challenges are complex and interconnected. Policies, healthcare practices, urban planning, industry standards, and community awareness all play a role in shaping exposure and health outcomes.
That is why UPRISE actively engages with experts and organisations beyond its consortium. They collaborate with:
- NGOs and civil society organisations
- Regulators and public authorities
- Healthcare professionals
- Policymakers
- Researchers and environmental experts
By building this broader network, we ensure that research findings are not only scientifically robust, but also relevant, practical, and aligned with real-world needs.
Turning Research into Impact
Stakeholder engagement strengthens the science-policy interface – a core ambition of ExpoHealthNet. By involving diverse perspectives early, research can better inform regulations, public health guidance, and environmental strategies.
Through its Stakeholder Community, UPRISE provides:
- Regular updates on project progress and key findings
- Invitations to open meetings, webinars, and workshops
- Opportunities to exchange views on how research can inform better protection of future generations
These activities create a space for mutual learning and help bridge the gap between research and decision-making.
Join the UPRISE Stakeholder Community
If you are working in environmental health, policy, healthcare, or research – or if you are simply interested in staying informed – we invite you to join the UPRISE Stakeholder Community.
Together, we can strengthen collaboration, improve knowledge sharing, and contribute to healthier environments from the very start of life.
